Library News - Curl Up with a Good Book & Library Title Feature
As the evenings get darker and colder, you might feel the need to hunker down with a good book. To me, there is no better feeling than curling up on the couch with a blanket, maybe some hot apple cider, and a good read.
I know a lot of us read in different ways. Some may prefer a traditional paperback, slipping their bookmark back in when they finish reading to see how far they’ve come. Others may prefer reading their e-reader in bed, with no need for a lamp, getting lost in a book and staying up way too late. Some of us love the convenience of reading right from our phones, ready to pick up where we left off whenever we have the chance. Last but not least are the audiobooks listeners who enjoy putting in their earbuds and going for a walk or getting in the car to listen to their new story.
No matter what type of reader you are, the library has you covered. If you prefer the real thing, we are always happy to see your face in the library. Kindle reader? You can download e-books from Libby to read on your Kindle! If you need help, check out our Facebook or Instagram page, or stop in for a visit. We’d be glad to help!
Want to read newer releases without the wait? Hoopla offers a selection of e-books that don’t have a waiting list, so you can start reading right away! These books can be read on your phone or tablet. And for my audiobook listeners, both Libby and Hoopla have options for you. Want to make sure you’re in line for a popular title? You can place a hold on the Libby app. Don’t want to wait? See if Hoopla has what you need!
This could also be a great time of year to start a book club! These resources give readers multiple ways to access a book, making it easier for everyone to join in. Can’t find what you’re looking for in our collection? Give us a call and see if we can get it for you through an interlibrary loan.
The library fully supports the need to cuddle up with a good book as the leaves fall and the weather turns. So grab your blanket, pour yourself something warm, and find your next read!
Library Title Feature - Miss Wolcott’s Ghost, by Louise Penny
This novel is number twenty one in the Chief Inspector Gamache series. "Deep and thoughtful, with themes of gender bias in science and the danger of forgetting history running through it, along with such Gamache favorites as honor, forgiveness and second chances... Descriptions of so many evolving and deepening relationships are lovingly tucked into the chapters...reading 'Miss Wolcott’s Ghost' made me as happy as an afternoon in the Gamaches’ garden with a glass of pink lemonade."―St. Louis Post Dispatch
